The Pai Tattoo Master
Atit Kawkoun (Poh) was born in Chonburi (Samaesan), Thailand, in 1983. He grew up in a fishing village where he attended school and worked on the boats at weekends and holidays. Although life was busy, Poh discovered his passion for art at a young age and spent any spare time drawing. During his teenage years, a tattoo parlour came to a village festival and from there he was adiment that he was going to be a tattoo artist.
At the age of 18, Poh moved to Bangkok and started working under his first tattoo mentor. Here, he was taught firstly how to listen and talk to customers. He progressed onto learning tattooing and piercing and after several years as an apprentice, he moved to Pai.
In Pai, at the age of 21, he worked independently for a few years and saved up enough money to open up his first tattoo shop, Monkey Magic Tattoo in Pai, Thailand. Since then he has worked hard to make the name Monkey Magic Tattoo a popular name amongst foreigners and Thais. Poh has a very high standard of work and uses high quality equipment and products. He continues to push himself to new heights and learn new tattoo products and techniques.
